Above: back view of finished wood branding iron. Note the bold which was threaded into a tapped hole on the back side of the brass.  We then cut off the head creating a threaded stud which will screw into the wood burning tool.

The next step is to just start carefully grinding away any material surrounding the logo. We used brass but aluminum should also work.  Please see the video listed above for details on the grinding process.

You could use the branding iron like this. You would just have to heat it with a tourch.

We wanted to be able to use the heat from a small wood burning tool. For this, we have to remove as much excess material as possible. The object is to have a very small thin branding iron so it will not take forever to heat up.

for standard wood burning tool

We started by designing a small logo and then creating a mirror image of that logo. We used Corel draw but any graphic design program will work.

We then traced that logo onto transfer film which is available at most arts and crafts stores.
