Once the glue is dry and the knife is removed from the vise a disc grinder with a flap sanding wheel can be used to shape and form the handle to the desired thickness. After the basic shape is achieved hand sand or use and electric sander to smooth out any rough edges.

Once the pins and the knife handles are attached clamp or use a vise to hold the sections together while drying.

Use a two part epoxy to glue each handle section onto the knife. Also apply glue to each pin before assembly.

Test fit the aluminum or brass pins to make sure the holes through the knife and handle match.

Once the rough blanks are cut one side at a time can be clamped in a vise to the knife. Drill holes through the existing mounting holes of the knife and through the handle. For this project we used 1/4 inch aluminum shafting and a 1/4 inch drill.

Knife handles can be made out of any hardwood or durable plastic material. First step is to cut out the rough shape with a jig saw.
