We used a disc grinder with a flop sanding wheel to shape the fish.
After stain and polyurethane the Fish Piggy bank is finished. A great addition to any child's room. Especially for Beach and Nautical Themed homes.
Drill a hole partway into each side piece to create the fish eye. Be very careful not to drill all of the way through or into the coin cavity.
With two part epoxy glue a small piece of wood across the coin access hole. The original slug removed from the hole can then be screwed directly into that wood.
Cut out the center of the middle board. This will create the cavity for the piggy banks coins. You also have the option of using a router to hollow out part of each side piece.
Using a dremel grinder and a cut off wheel create a mouth. the same tool can be used to plundge cut the coin slot.
Start by cutting out the outline of the fish on each board. The middle board will have the top fins but not the bottom fins. Both outside boards will have bottom fins but not the top fin.
Glue each piece together and clamp until dry.

The edge of the wheel can be used to add grooves to the tail and fins.

Note: Remove a small section of wood from the bottom of the middle piece. We cut this out so it was hidden behind each bottom fin. This opening will be the access into the coin cavity.
