A disc grinder with flap disc sanding wheel was used to round the body over. 

A hole for the eye is cut out. This hole must be just large enough for the bottle neck to slide through. Wood can be stained to match the homes decor and coated with urethane or for a more durable glassy finish a two part epoxy.

This Bent Wood Fish Shaped Wine Bottle Stand is easy to make and looks great.

These Fish Shaped Wine Bottle Stands are crafted out of 4 or 5 pieces of 1/16 Basewood (available at most arts and crafts stores. One side of each piece is completely coated with wood glue. A curved form is created by cutting out the desired cure in a 4x4. The assembled glued sheets are then pulled into the form with a series of clamps. Once all clamps are in place let the glue dry overnight. Once dry the assembled sheets will hold the curved shape of the form.
